Question on file conversion

Robert this one you might be able to help with. I noticed on another thread you use pinnacle 12.1 . Will that convert m2ts files into more useable file types like mpeg. And does anyone know of any other editing software that has file conversion.

I am making a video of my hunting adventures and trying to do a professional job with it. I have an editing program that I am using and so far it seems to look pretty good. Does anyone know what steps I need to go through to make sure my material is protected from copyright issues or any such thing? It would be nice if sometime in the future I would be able to see some of my videos on TV one day but who knows. Any help on the copyright question would be appreciated.

I have a Question, I have used a Sony (miniDV) camera before, not for hunting...I have done lots of audio editing with Final cut pro (mac) and a little video editing with final cut pro..... I am looking at the camera packages from campbellcameras.com, the sony and canon packages look pretty good.....I also am thinking about the editing software campbell is fixing to release... On the cameras, I want HD, smaller if possible, (miniDV will do) but, I would like a memory stick (atleast 16gig) ...

Got the new camera out this evening to try to get some velvet footage but mother nature had other plans. We got to play with the new camera a little before it started to pour. When it slowed down the 2 biggins we are trying to get pics of came out. By then it was to dark to get any good footage from 600 yds away. Got some good footage of some lightning. The new camera is deffinitely an upgrade of the cameras we were using. Can't wait to get some good footage.

Well guys I Pussed out and didn't pull the trigger on the XHA 1. I did order a camera that should do for a year or 2 until we get a little more comfortable with filming and editing. I ordered a Canon VIXIA HF S100. The thing is tiny, but everything i've seen on it sounds like it's one of the best little HD cameras out there. I got a package off of Campbels that has a shotgun mic, camo skins extra batteries, SD card, A 3 year extended warranty and some other goodies that come from the factory ...

The Guide and I are pretty new at the video thing. I was wondering what accessories do you guys recomend getting to get started and still get good footage. We have a Muddy Arm and a good head, so I was just wondering about the camera accessories like a 2x telephoto lense , wide angle lense, UV filters and such. Thanks.

Cannon XHA 1 ?

Does anyone use a Cannon XHA 1, and if so what do you think. We are looking for a new camera and it looks like we wont outgrow the XHA anytime soon. I hear they can be a little hard to set up but once you get the setting programed and saved its a breeze to use. A bit pricey, but I usually settle for a little less then regret not getting something that has it all.

Hey guys I have a question for the guys that have filmed hunts. When hanging stands for filming how much higher do you want the camera man stand and also How high do you put your camera arm above the hunter. Any info on filming hunts will be great. I needed to make some upgrades to get the new Canon ready for fall so I picked up a new Muddy arm and a Manfrotto fluid head for it to make for smooth panning. Also added a new Rhode video shotgun Mic to make my sound top notch as well. That should just about take care of it. I think we are good to go for some fall hunting. I'll get a picture posted up here soon.

I was able to go to buffalo county Wi this past weekend and got some decent footage. Found a bachelor group of about 7 bucks and 1 of them was a stud for sure, he was a brute. Also got footage of a young albino buck, he had a little basket rack on him. He was kind of far away but looked good on the big screen. The weather was beautiful and sure got me excited to get out and sit in that tree again.

For everyone who is filming this year, one of the best recommendations I can give is to do a little homework and watch one of today's best camera guys in action. Big George, who films Lee and Tiffany is one of the best behind a camera hands down. Does anybody know of any shows, that are looking for staff members ? I have over 8 years experience in outdoor video, been a staffer on a couple shows, in the past. Well, my uncle and I finally ordered a new camera today an decided to go with a SONY HVR HD1000U mini dv with a Manfrotto 701 HDV Fluid Head. Got a camo camera bag and it comes with a shotgun mic. Well....I'm always wanting to learn new things, and boy did I learn something yesterday! You have to get things done lickity split before somebody beats you to it. I had to change the name of my production company. Don't quite know what it's going to be yet, but you can bet that it will be incorporated into an LLC the day after I get it started! You learn something new everyday!

I upgraded to the new Pinnacle v.12 Ultimate for editing this evening....man is it sweet! It still has a little to be desired as far as zooming capabilities, but it's going to put together a heck of a segment intro for all the WA videos!

My point in bringing this up is just what Joe said. I got my HD camera and shot the first video in Hd. Then when I got to the computer I had to make a decision , burn in HD or convert to SD. I converted to SD because I wanted my friends to be able to watch and doubted everyone had a blue ray. It took probably two hours to convert. The Sony program will do that. It will ask you which you want to burn the CD to. Whenever I shoot now I shoot in SD and burn in ten minutes. But I will have the ...
