Well things didn't really go as expected. I was really hoping to see alot of bucks chasin and just a lot of deer period. Well wrong, I hunted probably the hardest I have ever hunted. I was in the woods almost from daylight to dark from Sat. to the next Sunday. I hunted alot with Joe and we just had a hard time connecting with anything. There was so much corn up and the weather did not help matters none. I saw alot of small bucks and had several opportunities to shoot some. I passed up on a 120" ...

Well my season this far has been the most fun and productive I can ever remember. It also has been filled with some pain. Tonight I hit the woods for the first time seriously in about 10 days. I am hitting my farm I nailed my first doe this year but have never taken a buck for the 3 years I have hunted it. I have had quite an encounter every year with a shooter it seems but I have not closed the deal yet.

Tonight the corn was being picked as I arrived. Around 4:20pm I noticed a deer standing ...

Well Monday (11-2-09) afternoon I headed for Trempealeau County to meet up with my friend. We arrived rather late. After short scouting of both properties (5 acre & 10 acre) we decided to hit the 5 acre piece. It was a triangle woods with some swampy, low lying areas running through the middle (huge, I mean huge trail running through it). The woods bordered some pines to the west, had corn north of the pines and beans east of this corner. Well as we walked the low lying middle piece about ...

As you all know I shot my first buck with a bow out of this stand two weeks ago. Well, since I was tagged out I let my good buddy Trevor sit my stand tonight.
This time of year in Indiana is usually the one weekend that you just MUST be in the deer woods if you're a bow hunter. The deer are moving good, it's the beginning of the rut and also the last weekend before gun season comes in. Saturday morning started out great. I saw several new rubs on my way to my stand and several more around my stand once it got light out. About 20 minutes after sun i see some movement, and there he is, the buck that I've been seeing makes an apperance by walking the ...

The arrow lodged (broken off) between his rib cage with the heart pierced right in the middle. The doe I double lunged earlier only went 15 yards.

I had been seeing does running and heard a deep grunt. So I stuck tight with camera ready. All of a sudden I heard something trotting. As I turned he just showed up in the clearing and stopped. I ...

I explained that I had heard the exact same thing and that my only concern was shooting them thru mesh windows of a groundblind. He proceeded to explain that he had tested the rage by shooting them with the blades open and had found them to be just as accurate with the blades closed. I just got back from one of the best hunting trips of my life, not only because of the great deer woods but because of the time spent with Robert and Dave. This year I switched to the 3 blade rage. Heard great things about them, and that they had worked out their deployment issues. But Ihad some. Thursday afternoon I shot a doe, it was about 40 yards ...

Brian asked me tp pick the spot and I chose the area where I went the very first time I hunted. I was on the way to my tree, but ended up stopping short and went up a tree I have never been in. Well, it turned out to be a good thing. I didn't even have time to range a couple of trees and had just gotten settled in when a doe comes walking down the road. I quickly judged the yardage, waited for her to take a step and fired. Sounded good. About 30 minutes later I look to my left and here comes ...

Man I went up to Clinton County, Indiana to hunt with a long time friend which we do several times during a hunting season. Got in the tree around 4pm and the wind was blowing up in the 20mph range and gusting alot more, so at first thought I really didn't think I was going to see a squirral let alone a deer, at 6:55 on the tractor trail between the corn and the creek I see a B.Buck coming my way, got up and waited and here came the Doe right behind. She was walking under the branches to my right ...

Well no deer down but there is sign everywhere. Darius and I hunted them hard this weekend with no luck. Saw some nice rubs and a set of tracks that set Darius off They were in front of my camera but the way he was standing you could only see his rear end. Well yesterday evening I went and checked the camera again (24 hours later) and saw more of the same type signs. Only this time he posed for the camera. Darius and I believe he is one of our bucks that we have targeted but its hard to say. ...

Set up my ground blind after the morning hunt this today. Romer shot a nice doe too.

It's mainly a weed and vine point with a couple sapplings, that runs out into a bean field. Used the vines to brush the blind in.

The hump in the middle, is the blind.

Hope it will be successful!

Opening morning indiana bow season I was sitting in a brand new stand on a new property. I've never hunted it before but the sign was there. I was pumped to get in a tree. I got into the stand and it wasn't long before i had the first deer right underneath my stand crunching on acorns. After about an hour of hand feeding acorns down to the yearling I heard another deer moving my direction out of the CRP field. First deer I saw was about a 2 1/2 yr old 8 pointer.
Shot Some Last Night

Got Dr. Hoyt out last night to shoot a little bit last night. I have been shooting every night during the week here lately, but decided I wanted to see if my broadheads would shoot like they were supposed to. Tried out 3 heads that I plan on using this year and all three were dead on (thats a confidence builder). Stretched it out to 50 yards last night and was happy with the results. Season is s-l-o-w-l-y getting here and I am ready. Just a waiting game now.
