| My girlfriend and I went on a little Sunday drive at about 4:00 this afternoon, right in the heat of the day, my truck said it was 95 degrees outside. We drove by this persons house and out beside a Pine tree was a little fawn, spots still on its coat, standing all by itself. It saw my truck and took off running, and ran right into a barbwire fence and almost got hung up. Isn't this a little early for a fawn to be alone? I thought the mothers hung around a little while longer then that. | |

| They definately still should be with there mother. They normally stay around with the mother until she runs them off, either during the rut, or more often before she is about to give birth again the next spring. I am sure she was around somewher nearby. If not, she was probably hit by a car or had something bad happen... | |

| Mom will feed off by herself from time to time. I'm sure she was somewhere near by unless she was injured or killed | |

| Could also be something wrong with the fawn itself and the mother rejected it. This does'nt happen much but in some cases the fawn will have some injury from birth or was not as strong as the other fawn from birth and the doe rejects it. Chance of survival is slim but it can happen. Just another possibility. | |

| If I was a betting man I would bet that the mother was very close to the fawn without you seeing her. All fawns aI have seen this summer have still been with momma. | |

| Yeah I figured they would still be with there momma but it was wierd that it just took off like that right in front of my truck! It was 30 yds into this persons yard, I was no where close. Thanks for the answers though guys. | |

| Saw my first fawn on Monday morning that had lost its spots. Thought that was pretty cool. | |
