I finally got a chance to get to the woods this weekend and get in some serious hunting.
Mike and I went back to area 51 and to say that we had a good time would be an understatement.
Mike was kind enough to take me to his sweet spot Saturday morning where he shot his 8 point a couple weeks ago and we had deer around us all morning , Mike saw a big 10 point that we named Diesel but only for a few seconds and then he disappeared.
I took a Doe from that stand and it felt pretty good to put some brown on the ground, that evening we set up on the edge of a narrow and very long clover field that Mike named the Green Mile and for good reason, just before dusk Mike shot a really nice big Doe and 5 minutes later I shot a pretty nice mature buck with a broken leg, wasn't the biggest but a good buck to take out non the less. Mike put up some pics in his last post .
I left Sunday afternoon and Mike stayed to hunt that evening and what he didn't tell you is that he sent me a text message later that night that he had taken out 2 more Doe that evening after I left. The guy is a TOTAL DEER KILLING MACHINE.
That brought the total number of deer for the weekend to 5 deer that took a permanent dirt nap.
Nothing like having a good hunting partner and I couldn't ask for one any better than Mike.
