Hold out for trophy or.?

Do you hold out for a trophy animal, or do you hunt for freezer meat.?

I like to try and hold for a trophy but when it gets close to the end I like to put meat in the freezer

I shoot me some slick heads for freezer meat. Plus i have a few families that like some meat as well so I usually try to get 3 or 4 doe down. As far as bucks go, I have a size I'm looking for and I wait for that size deer to come by. If it's a public draw hunt then I'm not holding out for a monster. If I'm on a hunt I was invited to and it's someone elses land then I follow their guidelines as to what deer they like to shoot. Overall though I'm looking for something around 130 and bigger

I'll fill the freezer with does.......

But I'll eat my tage before shooting a young buck

I pretty much with Robert here, although I have to admit sometimes I get a little jumpy and wanna squeeze the release early. I guess it all depends on the situation.

same here. If you want meat shoot a doe or two it will help in the long run.

I'm with Mark and The Guide but also do the same as Robert with helping families out and donating to Farmers Feed the Hungry.

Like others said, doe makes great freezer meat. When it comes to buck I hold out for something i like. That goes for whitetail or mulies. Although if I held out for some of the whitetails you guys shoot I'd be waiting a long time.

Yeah, I always take a few does, but if I'm bow hunting, my definition of a trophy buck is a little lower. Any deer with my bow is a trophy to me, so while a six pointer can walk under my stand unharmed in gun season, if I have a bow in my hand he's going down and I'll feel like he's a trophy.

I smoke alot of does every year but hold out for a mature buck.

I'll take a couple does...When I'm after a buck,I like them 130" or bigger(I would love a booner)...I'm hoping to hold out for a 150" this year,but that may change depending on how my season is going...I've ate my buck tag 5 out of the last 8 years and passed up lots of young bucks...
