This year Maryland was hit with a couple major snow storms. After the first storm that left almost 2 foot in my shedding area and before the second storm hit later this day (Feb 9th) I went out looking.
I've found them with bloody bases already, but never one like this one.
There was snow on the ground and even some on the antler, but none on the base. There was a piece of extra skull hanging on the base.
After a couple more hours fighting walking in the snow in this area I headed to another spot.
Like the first spot I spotted an antler right after starting in this area.Walking in I was walking on a trail I thought somebody made. The further I walked the trail the more I thought the deer made it.
Then I spot this laying in the middle of the trail.
Unlike the first shed with a clean base this one was pretty bloody.
I searched here for about an hour an a half then called it a day.The deer were getting around pretty good in the highways they had cut through the snow.
Here's both from today.
