I was at the beach the other day doing a little surf fishing. Caught a pretty good bluefish while there. I'd have to admit this is one of my luckiest catches ever. While I almost had it in he took a run down the shoreline and got into my other line. While I was trying to limit the tangle and pull the fish in I felt the line go slack as the fish came off. My heart sank as I figured I'd lost a good one but I looked to my left and as the surf was heading back out I see a big bluefish flopping on the beach. So I dropped the rod, ran over and grabbed him by the tail. The fish ended up pulling my hook straight but what a lucky catch it was! geek

Real nice Blue, congrats. My in laws and my wife and kids went to the beach this weekend, I couldn't go I was in Florida for work. My brother in law went surf fishing and landed 5 sand sharks. I will be heading down there in 2 weeks and hope I can reel something in on the surf.

Thanks all! I landed ~3' wide ray but didn't mess with taking a pic of it. They were feeding heavy in spots and would swim right by you. Poked a few with the butt of the rod as they got a little to close for comfort.

Hey CA, what state you surf fish, is it walk in for drive? We went to the outer banks and was thinking about finding something with less of a drive. I pulled in a few sand and black tip sharks but nothing of any size. Good luck on your next time out.
