OK on my Rem. Genesis muzzy, I have it sited in at 2in high at 100yrds. I have taken a shot at a yote at 40yrds and a big doe last night at 40yrds. MISSED. Yeah I might have bumped the scope, but I try very hard to be easy with them. Or is it shooting high because of the short distance? Tonight I am going to shoot it at a target and see whats up. I'm frusterated, but with the clean miss of the Doe atleast not a wounded deer walking, or just another victim of the food chain.

Don't worry about the distance you sighted in, even at short range with a 100 yard zero you should be within 1 1/2 inches of zero. There are usually two culprits. Either your scope is messed up or your aim is. A lot of times we sight our gun in over the summer and then hunt the late ML season wearing an extra 4 layers of clothes. That will push the stock out and could change where your cheek welds to the stock. Also, did you have a good rest? Shooting offhand is never a good way to see if a rifle is on or off.
The other common problem is a loose screw. Take off the scope and rings, then retighten the base with some locktite and the rings with locktite. Also check the screw under the forearm that holds the stock to the action. It seems like its one of those things 99% of the time. Good luck, and pm me if that doesn't work.

good advise Zach..........

I had a similar experience last week...... I missed a doe at 70 yards with muzzleloader, thinking how in the world could I have missed?...then an hour later I nailed another doe at 60 yards. So I knew it was me and not the gun or scope.

I believe it was due to the amount of clothes I was wearing.........

just glad it wasn't a big buck!!!
