I keep a bear out of our bird feeders?

We had the same problem. The game commissioner advised us to take down all feeders. In order to coexist with the bear, you should not offer your territory as a food source. It's not fair to the bear as they will begin to recognize humans as meal providers. Clearly, this is a problem both for bear and people.

If you absolutely refuse to take down the feeders during the spring months when the bears' food is more scarce, scatter some moth balls around. Bear are repelled by the scent.

Please search black bear attacks and then decide if you want to encourage the bear to come around.
