if you were going to make an all day sit during the rut what landforms do you look for on determinig where to sit..Is it beeding area area between beeding and feeding, simple ridge top to check for criusing bucks...Also what extra gear would u take rather than a 4 hr sit..

I would sit on normal doe routes. Plenty of food and a couple of gatorades. Gotta have a piss bottle.

I usually sit near a funnel or a pinch point between known bedding areas and sit about 30 yards downwind of the trail or terrain feature to catch cruising bucks scent checking the bedding areas. I take plenty of snacks and water and my pocket black jack game to pass the time, even though its almost burnt me acouple of times.

I'm with you on that one.Funnels are one of my favorites to hunt. One of my best hunting spots has 3 funnels (creekbottoms between ridges) that come into one.You just never know what will come up through there. Here a pic of it.Another favorite place I like to hunt all day during the rut is a crp field.Seems like the big boys like to hang out in there while waiting on a hot doe.

feed and bedding for sure. also if i can find a pond or creek by either of these it's what i hunt. water is especially good in the early season when it's still hot out.

X4 pinch, funnel, choke or corner...bucks are on the move and will go through if you just wait long enouph! Stay in the stand and no matter how bored you get try to stay mentally ready cause it can happen any time and it can happen fast!
