Has anyone ever noticed strange rangefinder readings in fog or any other bad weather? I had mine out the other morning in the fog and it just wasn't accurately measuring distances. It was reading low 20's and I know the distance was mid 30's. Some objects it wouldn't even read. I pulled the battery (new) for a while and cleaned the lenses without positive results. Later that day and since then it appears to be working fine. All I could think was maybe the fog influenced the readings but it has me wondering if there's an intermittancy within it.

i have heard about this if you look at some of the reviews on your rangefinder you might find that problem in the reviews..Just google your brand for reviews..I was gonna purchase a well known rangefinder until i read the reviews and they said inaccurate readings in fog, misting rain, and through the shoot through messh ( which it is suppose to range through).. IHave also heard about the lenses getting foggedd up at the moment of truth, but im skeptical about that because they could have easily breathed on it ( in cold weather) as they brought it up to range the deer, creating fogged up lens..

I have a Nikon I've owned for about 3 years and have only had trouble one time and it was in some nasty fog. Never seem to have issues in the rain or lite fog, just the heavy stuff

I sure hope it was just the fog but it didn't seem that heavy. I'm going to keep it handy and test it out during my morning practice. The last thing I want is a faulse reading at the moment of trhuth. I believe this is year 6 with this one. I did have it fail once just after warranty was up. I'm pleased to say the manufacturer still stood behind it and repaired free of charge.
