how far walk

how far do you park to your stand.. My average is probably round 1/4 mile from the jeep.. Reason being is that most properties i have acess to are 7-40 acres of land to hunt.. Being on public land i like to walk alot farther than that. I was listening to a guy who said he drives his atv with 50yds of the stand and still see`s deer.. he also claims that shot placement doesnt matter if you use a rage so go figure..( not bashing rage, i fact my wife uses the 40KE but shot placement still matters).. just wondering what my WA friends do..

It all depends where I'm hunting at and what stand, it can range from a couple hundred yards to a half mile

1/4 mile to 1/2 mile lately. Back in the day I have walked up to 1 1/2 miles into some deep woods. That was before I used a climber. Closest has been about 75 yards when I shot my doe in September.

First off, shot placement always matters, Always.

Depending on where I hunt. A couple of weeks ago I hunted 30 yards from a gravel road but that's what the spot provided. I've also walked well over a mile this year. On average I'd say about 1/2 mile.

I'd also say it really depends on the situation. This year I hunted a few times 100 yards from the barn cause that's where the deer were staging before hitting the corn. If I hunt the far side of our farm no matter what stand I hunt I always park in the same place. IMO, A little excersise is good for you as long as you don't ball up in sweat by time you get on stand.
