My son is 9 now and it's his first year really hunting. He has gone with me as a non hunter for a couple of years and did go one time last year on a youth hunt but this is his first year as a hunter. This also included a trip to Big Oaks for the youth hunt which was his first out of town and overnight hunt. He had the best time and we sat for over 8.5 hours on that hunt. He never complained once and was excited to go again. And he actually enjoyed the safety video and asked if we could watch it next time, lol. He is still looking for a deer or yote, he is obsessed with shooting a yote, but I'm not going to complain about spending time in the woods with my son Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

He is using a 44 mag rifle and we are both having the time of our life. We'll be back out this weekend and we'll be having more fun than I've had all my years of hunting. Sorry about pic quality as they are taken with my phone and during low light. Just a note for those who have kids getting to that age where they will want to hunt. SAFETY FIRST and foremost. Deer don't see orange as orange and it doesn't stand out to them. You will notice that my son has a vest and hat on and I wear a vest and hat too. I take my vest off and put it on the blind or back of the tree so that other hunters can see us even if we don't see them. When it comes to my son I can never be to safe.

In the first pic I told him he looked like he was trying out for the Swamp People show Twisted Evil Twisted Evil

It's fun getting the next generation into hunting. Sounds like he's interested in it to. Good luck out there next time!
