Thunder Chicken Down Empty
PostSubject: Thunder Chicken Down   Thunder Chicken Down EmptyTue May 08, 2012 6:57 am

I finally got it done got it done yesterday evening. I have had birds working this ridgeline a couple times this year and skirt past my setup so I decided to set up in a nice open spot right on the top of the ridge. I had been sitting for a couple hours calling every half hour or so when a storm decided to move in. It had just started to rain but the lightening and thunder was pretty much right over top so I decided to pack it in. I had everything packed up and was getting ready to head out. I gave one last series of excited calls right after a crack of thunder and this bird double gobbled about 90 yards away across some CRP. I had barely sat down and put my mask on when I saw the bird half strutting about 40 yards out on the edge of the woods I was in. I stayed silent and he quickly worked his way into the woods, about 25 yards out, and I let out a thunder of my own. Bird Down! Not my biggest bird but was most likely my last day to hunt between work and my wife being due with my first born any day. 20#, 1" and 3/4" spurs, 10 1/4" beard
