Not sure if Herb and Edwin would remember me but I hunted with them back I think in 04 all ready, wow time flys. I hunted the Wallace farm it was awesome and wish I could it again! I passed many buck's in the 130's and seen a few that pushed the 150-160 range! That was a week of high heat and rain!

Many people in this area, pass 130 class bucks everyday
Why because in most area's of this county you will be blessed with seeing quite a few 150 class and above, if you have the will , to wait Wink

Edwin and Herb do their best to provide you with a hunt of a life time
If you really want to pay for the ultimate hunt, listen to and respect everything your outfitter tell's you,
I have know Herb since 1998 and he was a key factor , as an adjoining land owner, friend, and world of knowledge in knowing how to grow big bucks
Some will never understand, as a 130 class animal
might be the biggest buck you could ever see in your area, but they rate small , for many in these parts ,

Also if you are booking a hunt, with any outfitter here in good ole Il, you will see there is a fine , for shooting a lesser class buck-
It is a great progam that most all local landowner's and Outfitter'-truely work so hard at -to give any and every non resident a hunt of a lifetime

Just so you know, I wont shoot anything under 150 at this point in my years of hunting Smile I love those 150 's and up class, but enjoy every 140 encounter just as much, only they get a free pass

I guess its just where you hunt on what you pass up. In some states a 130 is nothing. It all depends on where you hunt. I wouldn't shoot a 130 in IL or IA, but if I saw a 130 in PA or WV then I might have to lay the smack down. Different strokes for different folks.

thanks bowgal,

really it is true and I was blessed the way I look at it to hunt like that it gave me something I have to this day! That trip in my mind truned me into the hunter I am today and I did not shoot at a single deer! I could have!

Sounds like an awesome trip and awesome place to hunt. And for those of you who dont believe he was passing up 130's you need to come to the midwest and experience it for yourself. We tell our hunters not to shoot any eight pointer under 130 and any 10 and abover under 140. You have to learn to be patient an when you are you will be rewarded with a trophy. Yes I did shoot one eight point buck under 130 last year, it was the end of the season and I knew he was mature enough and at his full potential, but I passed him up several times in early season. Here where I live, and probably in the rest of the midwest, its not uncommon to here of a buck over 200" killed in the area each year. Heck to even been in the kansas top 10 you have to kill something 220" and over, and i know wisconsin, Iowa, and Illinois have bigger records then kansas. I know I am blessed to live out here in big buck paradise. Very Happy

you guys have some amazing bucks out in the mid west i had an offer to hunt private land in Kansas this year but not going to be able to make it out this year but you can bet I will be making plans to hunt with my friend next year in Kansas. Always been a dream of mine to hunt some of the giant bucks of the midwest

If you have the genes in your area it's a great practice. I know in Pike county Ill passing on 130's is like most folks passing on forks. I've known guys that go over to hunt and come back saying they say 10 to 15 deer a day over 130 every day they were there.
Mark and I are headed to South Dakota this November on a hunt for Doc's TV show and the outfitter told us we'd see 8 to 15 shooters over 135 a day. If you are in the right area then 130's are young and still growing. Sit still and a bigger one will come by.
By the way, 130 is my cut off this year. I am hoping to reach the point where I'm waiting on 140 and above
