| Ok guys here is one for you what is the longest shot you feel comfortable taking on a deer in the woods. The conditions being a wide open shot with nothing in the way. Just wondering what everyone thinks is a good distance. I personally think 40 to 45 yards is about as far as I feel comfortable shooting a deer. | |

| Furthest I would shoot in the woods is 40. Too much variables in the wood lot for me to shoot any further than that. | |

| Im not exactly sure, but I think my distance is def getting farther seeing as how my new PSE is going to be flinging arrows at the speed of light. Of course I will have to practice alot and have be positive that I can make the shot to expand my distance but I dont see how it cant expand when Im shooting a bow that fast. | |

| I shoot regularly back to 40 yards every time I practice. 50 fairly often that I am very comfortable. With my new Spot-Hogg sight I have another pin to dial in 60 yards. So if the conditions were right, I have a steady hold and Mike filming me I would take a 60 yard shot! Someday I would like to go to a single pin sight where I can dial in the distance out to 100 yards. | |

| I shoot regurally out to 50... but with the new PSE and movable single pin, I will probably back it up to 60 or 70. Very unlikely that the conditions will all come together for a shot like that though... | |

| With todays shooting equipment I feel it is really what the shooter is compfortable with.. 45yds is really nothing any more. Elk hunters reguarly shoot much further. It all boils down tot he shooter, their experiance and confidence. | |

| I shot a deer at 52 yards last year. Out in the open maybe up to 60 yards. I usually practice a good bit out that far as the season comes closer. | |

| I am extremely comfortable up to 35 yards in the woods. It's one pin on my Matthews as well. I am working on getting comfortable up to 50 yards, as my bow is more than capable of shooting very accurate at that distance. I don't know if I would take that long of a shot in the woods, but on a field edge... | |

| Usually I hunt some thick areas so I like to stick around 30-35 yards to put a good shot on a deer in the woods. There can be so much small stuff that you block out when focusing on the deer. In the open now I am comfortable shooting out to 50 yards. When I get a new bow I'm hoping to work my way out to 65 yards. | |

| If it was a wide open shot and there was no wind I would have to say i feel comfortable taking a shot out to probably 70 or maybe even a little farther if the deer was pefectly broadside and was calm. My brother and I hunt out west in AZ and you have to be able to shoot atleast 50 yards because it is so wide open out there. When we practice we shoot to 90 yards. I am shooting a Hoyt Trykon XL with 80# pull so my arrow is going about 315 fps. Plus with my 32 inch draw my long arrows seem to fly pretty good at this distance. But it takes a lot of practice. I know you are not going to get a shot out to 90 yards in the woods but when you get that bruiser at 45 to 50 it seems like a chip shot because we are used to shooting at much greater distances. | |

| I shoot all the time at 50 and 60 yards and would feel comfortable shooting in a open field without much wind but in the woods 40 to 45 is all I would do alot can go wrong in the woods. | |

| I would have to say 35 to 40 yards. I practice up to 40 yards but probably would never take a 40 yard shot. Early season I hunt once or twice beside a field edge and most of the time the shot will be in the woods anyway. So i try to stay at or below 35 yards when i take a shot. | |

| My farthest successful shot was 62 yards, the buck was standing in an alfalfa field with a doe. But I totally agree with my brother(Slunger Seeker). We do practice a lot out to 90 yards so that when a shot comes around at 40-50 it makes it seem closer than it actually is. Now in the woods I think there will rarely be a shot where everything is perfect to shoot that far. But like he said it's all where you hunt. Out west 45 yards is nothing, so you have to practice and push yourself or you'll never know how far you can really go. | |

| I have been practicing a lot at 40 and 50 and shooting pretty well at those distances. I feel most comfortable out to about 35. If the conditions are perfect, I would go for a 40 yard shot probably. | |

| 40 with little or no wind would prolly be my max. But who knows if the buck of my dreams walks by at 45 or 50 lol. | |

| Depends on all conditions.....40-50 if wide open. I practice out to 75 yards regularly......so 40-50 seem a little easier, when you need to make the shot | |

| I'd say 40 but never shot anything over 35. I practice when I can get home before dark out to 50 - 55 and shoot good @ that distance but never shot anything over 35. | |
