I nailed a gobbler this morn. He was 23 lbs with 8.5 inch beard and 7/8 spurs.
Well to be honest I was trying to get my wife a gobbler but she wouldn't take the gun cause she said she wasn't comfortable with it. So with very little arguing I took the gun. We got in and set up decoys and all about 80 yards from where we roosted them a couple weeks ago. Right at daybreak we heard them let loose up the fenceline about 150 yards. It was too late to change set ups and I thought we were pretty good anyway. So as soon as they hit the ground I never heard a peep out of any of them. I called about every 10 min. Right at 9 am I heard the leaves rustling so I got ready and kept my aim toward the decoys. He walked right past my wife at 10 yards and stopped right behind a tree blocking my view and stayed there and would not move. I was getting anxious and was trying to peep around and boom I saw that head popped up checking me out and that was his last sight to see haha. It was an absolute. blast. Joe is coming down tomorrow and we are going to put a hurting on em since I saw 2 more in the field after loading mine that were quite a bit bigger than my kill.
