Hey everyone! I have not been on for a while, been huntintg hard. I was able to connect with this guy Nov. 5th. Very pleased with him!
Well I had not been seeing what I wanted so I took my Muddy stand and climbing sticks in to a woods I had just recently got permission in an area I have never hunted before. I knew I needed to do something because I was not seeing any shooters... So I went in blind. I could tell there was great deer sign so I looked for a pinch point. I found a narrow ridge connecting 4 adjacent ridges to gather. Looked like the perfect ambush pinch area. I sat that evening after sweating my arse off putting it up and saw two bucks that night. Then I sat the next. Then my next dilemma... Finding the right tree.. I tried hanging the stand in 3 other trees before I landed on the one I chose. None of them felt right or my stand just would not work out in the location. I am picky on stand placement... So I opted for a slick tree (no limbs). I hate slick trees but it was the best I had in this area. That morning and caught this guy coming through at 9:00 am. It is thick in this area and had to pic my shot at about 45 yds.. I thought the shot was bad once I started tracking him so I opted to leave him until later that day. I went back at 4:00 and found him dead 50 yds from where I left off tracking him. Ended up he was dead before I left the stand.. Hope I did not bore you...
PS: Now I am ready for our gun season...
