More than likely the 340 and the 400 are not the actual grains of the arrow, but rather the spine size. Since I don't know the specific model of arrow you are shooting I can't tell you the exact gpi's (grains per inch). My guess is the 400's will be around 1 grain per inch less than the 340's. The shorter arrows you shoot, the less stiffer spine you need. Someone shooting a 70 pound bow with a 30 inch arrow might need the 340 spine, while someone shooting the exact same poundage with only a 27.5 inch arrow will shoot a 400 spine arrow.
Your best bet is to go to Bemans web site and go to the "shaft selector" section and enter the info on your bow set up and it will tell you what size spine you should be using.
