| How bad do you think wind chimes will affect deer on a piece of property? The landowners want me to put up wind chimes all around the property to keep the bats out (some lunny told them this and know they are convenced that it will work ) The reason is they are trying to sell the ground and are fighting with the Airport. the airport wants the property but dont want to give them much $$$ for it. They have property all around ours and they use it for conservation (they say that but then they turn around and sell it off to wharehouses for 10 times what they payed for it ) they catch the bats from the airport and let them go on the property they have. If they can prove there are alot of bats on our property they can have it rezoned to conservation and then we can not ever sell it.(we could but no one would buy because they couldnt do anything with it). But anyway how bad do you think it will affect the deer do you think they will get use to it or not? Im not a happy guy right now | |

| Don't sound like a good situation at all Romer. I don't know if that will affect the deer or not??? It seems like they would get used to it but I'm sure different deer would react differently. Good Luck!! | |

| I would say if you have to put them up get them up right away so the deer can become acclimated with the sounds. I would think it would be just like anything else that is a constant, such as trucks on a highway, or airplanes, or sounds coming out of buildings that are close to deer habitat. You can let us know how it works out after the season... haha. | |

| I have them talked into the wooden ones I think the deer would get use to those faster than the metal ones (i hope anyways) be more of a knocking noise instead of the high pitch noise. | |

| i'd say they will get used to the sound. a deer is smart you know. i have beagles and have them in their kennels and have one dog staked out.seems like to me they know how to stay just out of range and that they now the dogs can't come any farther . who knows ,they may pick one or two of the sounds to make crossings because they can hone in on certain sounds. keep an eye on the crossings they use and you may see they like some better than the others. good luck. if there are old buildings on the property the bats may congregate there and there should be plenty bat droppings . they are a few staying in a eve of my father-in-laws pool house and they leave a lot of droppings. you know they eat insects too ,like them ole' skeeters and things .if your huntin' ground is swampy that might be another reason they like it; buggy; | |

| Well said Adam, I couldn't agree more. They will become use to the sound and not see it, or hear it, as a threat. But like Adam said I would go ahead and get them up now to give them time to get use to it before the season comes around. | |

| I've been out in the area and they have all but taken it all over. Pushed people off their farms and out of their homes and all in the name of Airport authority. It's a nightmare of what money and government can do and no one has been able to even slow it down | |

| That's kind of a touchy subject wit me. Even though deer acclimate, maybe their patterns change to acclimate to the change. I would not want to make a change of this fashion. My dad's land has gone through some weird changes over the past couple of years and it seems like the deer mostly cross through at night now and they go around the land using the neighbors. What a crummy set of circumstances. Sorry to hear. | |

| I think the does and young bucks will deal with it and not change to much. Now the big bucks might not take to kindly to it. They notice anything and everything in their area. I would say if you have to use them get them up asap so the does especially can get used to them. This way when the rut roles around those big ole bucks won't be thinking about anything but does. Another thing if you notice the deer do avoid them then take advantage of that. Hang them so you can create your own funnel and put the deer where you want them. Hope everything works out for you and let us know what happens. | |
