First day 2009 Empty
PostSubject: First day 2009   First day 2009 EmptySun Mar 14, 2010 7:31 pm

My first day back in the woods was a great one. Living in Florida I hadn't hunted this area in over a year. I got to hunt with my cousin and a good friend. Going in we played the wind wrong and blew the deer out. We went in anyway. I went to my spot that always produces a shot on a deer in the early season. Once I got to the area I had a hard time locating my tree. I could see the sun starting to rise and now I am getting frustrated. I ended up just picking a tree that I could get my climber on. After getting settled in the stand, the sun rose and I spotted my tree. It was no longer vertical. It was laying on the forest floor. Why it fell, I don't know. It is a healthy tree. About 7:00 I seen movement on the edge of a bean field and by 7:30 I had 2 doe down. Those deer came right to me. The first one I had to grunt at to stop before it walked into my tree. After I pulled the shot off on that one the others took off stopping about 30yards out allowing me time to nock another arrow and target another. After the shots I was pumped. I couldn't wait to recover them. I didn't wait as I could see them both laying down. I packed all my equipment and lowered my bow. I started down the tree and stopped. Here comes more deer. All I could do was get my phone and snap a picture as a deer trots pass my bow. I think I found a new tree to hunt out of. What a day.
