Need a little help from you all. My son wants me to make a Turkey spur necklace for him. My question is how do I get the spur off and cleaned for something like that

I cut them off the leg with by pass pruners............. push the marrow out of the legs, pull the tendons out too.... then use a knife to scrape the skin off the legs also.

after all that get some Borax (laudry soap) and stick the spurs into a bowl of Borax, it helps cure the spurs so no rotting smell.

not sure if thats the way anyone else did it, but it worked for me

Hey Mark-- Where can a guy pick up some of those prass pruners? Sporting Goods Store, Hardware Store?

The way Mark described it is how I've always have done it. I usually leave it covered in borax for a week. Make sure you get plenty of borax into the bone where the marrow came out.
