LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Nebraska hunters again will be able to donate deer meat this fall to anyone who wants it, through the Deer Exchange program.
The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission says the Deer Exchange is designed to handle the big deer harvest. Hunters who have filled their freezers may still bag a deer and have somewhere to take the meat.
Participants register online at OutdoorNebraska.org.
Donors and potential recipients who register find participants in their area, then make contact by telephone. The venison may not be sold.
Donors must properly field-dress and check the deer before giving away the carcass or the meat after processing.
